Dapnee Williams An fantastic collection of fan recreations of songs ranging from so many styles that the full album is a ride start to finish. Vocals are beautifully done as well. Favorite track: Paradise.

ZachVGM This album is incredibly weird, but let's face it, MM is incredibly weird as well, and that's part of the appeal. The tracks are eclectic and varied to a fault, but you'll never get bored. Some of the songs are dark and intense, some are beautiful and passionate, some are downright goofy, and some are simply "other." I won't say that I loved every one, but the ones that are strong are very strong indeed.

The album does have some missteps, but the whole is greater than the sum of the parts. Favorite track: Majora's Theme.

dannymusic MM is one of my favorite Zelda games, and I'm happy Materia Collective did an album of its music! I had the pleasure of playing trombone on a lot of these tracks. Very broad range of genres represented and unique, creative interpretations of themes! Favorite track: Fallin' (Disco in the Milk Bar).

John Woodruff Honestly there were only a handful of good songs on here. They were all okay, but it lacked any cohesion and some of them were pretty poor. I did like a few, primarily The Voice of the Mountain. I was impressed that the artist chose the Goron lullaby, as it's usually somewhat ignored compared to other more popular songs. They did a great job of arranging it, and I even put it on my Zelda playlist of favorites. Favorite track: The Voice of the Mountain.

about

Majora’s Mask is known for being a wildly different, yet powerful, addition to the Legend of Zelda series. More than any game in the franchise preceding it, Majora’s Mask dealt with the positive and negative issues that human beings face every day as well as in major moments in life - grief, death, the inevitable passage of time, fear, rejection, and temptation, but also friendship, reconciliation, perseverance, justice, hope, and love.

This was a game that was less about “Good vs. Evil” and more about how people handle difficult obstacles in life, and what the consequences of their actions are. Although it was set in a surreal environment in which you can bend time to your will, Majora’s Mask captured human emotions and interactions in a way that made the player feel personally invested in solving the characters’ problems, healing broken relationships, and restoring the world to peace (while preventing the moon from falling).

We feel that the soundtrack to Majora’s Mask not only provides a strong complement to the game, reflecting all these emotions and themes, but is an incredible collection of musical ideas on its own. It recycles themes from previous games, uses leitmotif, and creates atmosphere with minimalist ideas and sounds. The inclusion of ideas and instruments from Chinese opera gives the soundtrack a unique twist on the classic Zelda music, much like the game is itself a unique twist of the standard Zelda game.

We hope you enjoy our arrangements and our take on The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask.
